ACCESSIBILITY

Our commitment to an accessible web.

H&Z Installations is committed to making this website usable by everyone, regardless of ability.

1. Our standard

H&Z Installations LLC works to conform this website to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities, including visual, auditory, motor, speech, cognitive, and neurological disabilities.

We also work to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and applicable state and federal accessibility requirements.

2. Built-in accessibility features

This website is designed with accessibility in mind from the foundation up:

  • Semantic HTML structure with logical heading order so screen readers can navigate efficiently.
  • Keyboard-navigable menus, forms, buttons, and accordions — no feature requires a mouse or touch screen.
  • Visible focus states on every interactive element so keyboard users always know where they are.
  • Descriptive alternative text on meaningful images; decorative images marked as such so screen readers skip them.
  • Color contrast that meets or exceeds WCAG AA requirements (4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text and UI components).
  • Text that scales without breaking layout, supporting browser zoom up to 200%.
  • Respect for system-level prefers-reduced-motion settings — animations are disabled for users who request them.
  • Form fields labeled programmatically (not just visually) and with clear error messages associated to the failing field.
  • Skip-to-content link for keyboard and screen-reader users.

3. Accessibility widget

Every page on this site includes an accessibility widget — a floating button (default bottom-right corner) that opens a settings panel. The widget lets you adjust:

  • Text size, line spacing, letter spacing, and word spacing
  • Contrast modes (high contrast, dark mode, monochrome, inverted)
  • Highlighting of links and titles
  • Cursor size and a reading guide
  • Hiding images entirely (for low-bandwidth or distraction-free reading)
  • A dyslexia-friendly font (OpenDyslexic)
  • Stopping all animations
  • Text-to-speech reading aloud
  • Repositioning the widget itself if it covers content you need

These are comfort tools that supplement — not replace — our code-level accessibility commitment. Settings persist across pages for your session.

4. Known limitations

We work hard to make every part of this site accessible, but we acknowledge that some content or functionality may not yet meet our goal of full WCAG 2.1 AA conformance. Known areas of ongoing work include:

  • Some embedded third-party content (such as maps or social media widgets) may not be fully accessible. These are governed by the providers’ own accessibility commitments.
  • Older project photos may not have detailed alt text yet; we are progressively improving this.
  • Documents (PDFs) we link to may not all be screen-reader optimized.

If you encounter a specific barrier on this site, we want to know about it.

5. Requesting an accommodation

If you need to access information from this website in a different format, or if you encounter an accessibility barrier that prevents you from using the site, please contact us. We will respond within five (5) business days and work with you to provide the information or fix the issue.

When contacting us, please include:

  • The page URL where you encountered the issue
  • A short description of what didn’t work for you
  • Your assistive technology, if any (screen reader, voice control, switch, etc.)
  • Your preferred contact method for our response

6. Formal complaint process

If you are not satisfied with our response to your accessibility concern, you may submit a formal complaint to the owner of H&Z Installations LLC in writing at Info@hzinstalls.com. Please include “Accessibility Complaint” in the subject line. We will acknowledge within five (5) business days and provide a substantive response within twenty (20) business days.

7. Third-party content

This website may include or link to third-party content (such as Google Maps, Thumbtack reviews, Facebook content). H&Z Installations does not control the accessibility of third-party content and is not responsible for any accessibility barriers that originate with those providers.

8. Continuous improvement

Accessibility is a process, not a one-time project. We review this website regularly, train our team, and incorporate accessibility into every new feature.
